Intro: Volume as seen in time & sales speedups and 20-30%+ increase in 1-min candle charts, combined with sector percent change, are the two most potent trigger points for daytrading breakout entries.

Volume pattern #1: "Directional ratchet" in the tape (ever-increasing stairstep pattern of volume).

Volume pattern #2: "Thickening up" of average transaction size (ATS) in time and sales from 100-300 to 400-1K size (tier 2's, not applicable to high volume gaps or tier 1 leads).
