VIDEO TYPE: TRADING PSYCHOLOGY- RECOVERING FROM LOSS

Day Trading University: Bouncing Back FAST

Many traders take huge losses, often because they're not able to deal with taking small stops.  They panic.  And lose some more.

In this 12-minute video trading lesson, I cover 3 strategies for how to recover from trading losses: tips that can help you "shake off" a recent string of losses and bounce back quickly.    Sometimes it's not so hard...see why:

Trader Activity:
Practice (paper)trading smaller share size after your very next trading loss.  Let's say you traded EBAY for 500 shares and lost .6 of a point.

For your next trade (any stock), cut your share size down to 200 shares, and don't trade over 200 shares again til you get at least 3 wins in a row

What can you do to mentally "bounce back" from trading losses, without it putting a cramp in your trading style? The discipline and professionalism that's needed to be a trader (vs a gambler) requires a specific, thoughtful process for managing both win and loss limits.  What will you do, the next time you take a stop?  How will you "bounce back" and recover with professional poise and risk management?    Give it a try!

VIDEO TYPE: TECHNICAL TRADING - MARKET SECTORS

Day Trading University: Trading the Volatility

In recent sessions, the NASDAQ and NYSE markets have been selling off rapidly, with the NASDAQ closing at 2037 on Friday, July 14, 2006.  What's a trader to do?

In this video clip, you'll see me reveal how to prepare for both bounces as well as continuation selloffs in the current market, using sector charts and the NASDAQ Composite....

Trader Activity:
Choose 6 stocks with volatile 2-point or better trading ranges, over $30/share, trading >1.5M shares/day avg volume.

Next, keep track of when these stocks move through prior day's highs/lows, and see what you'd to improve your trading entries based on the specific breakout/breakdoswn patterns you see.  Finally, papertrade shorting new 2-day lows in volatile Retail, Biotech and other stocks in motion each morning.  Now see, that wasn't so hard, was it?

Trader Activity:
Think to yourself about how your personal trading qualities can either help or hurt your trading.   Are you too impulsive?  Too cautious?

Now ask yourself— What can you begin doing differently this week to help improve your trading results, the next time you're ready to put on your trade?

Trading Jazz: How Trading's Like Improv

Traders - how is trading like jazz?   To me, it's like playing jazz improv, because you don't know what's going to happen next!

Here I am noodling around a bit with my sax, Sade...

(if video streams slowly, download the wmv here (7Mb):
http://www.DaytradingUniversity.com/TradingJazz.wmv)

And hey don't mind my frowning, it's how I usually look when I play sax... I'm really in a great mood... (remind me to wear my shades and cool jazz hat next time I record one of these, ok?)...

The next time you're about to trade, think about it like jazz: you want it to turn out smoothly and successfully, right?  So practice, practice, practice - that's the only way to get better.

Trade well,
